They have to dig the root out to get rid of the nail permanently, you should go
back someday and get it redone.........no nail is better than the reoccurring
aggravation of a nasty nail.

Dan,

I had my big-toe nails removed years ago after recurrent ingrown nails.  I've
never had an ingrown nail since then, so it was a success in that sense.
However, I don't know if the removal was done improperly but I did have a
'nail' of sorts grow back on each toe.  The new nail is thicker and uglier than
the original nail, grows very slowly, and causes me much embarrassment [I
refuse to wear sandals or show my feet] as it looks as if the nail has a fungus
or is mutant.  I've never looked into having it re-removed.  I guess I should.

I guess you'd say the removal was both good and bad for me.

Don.

Have any of you had your toenails permanently removed?

Dan
