Getting hard drives from eBay can be risky at best.

If you are going to replace your original drive and don't care for the
documents, then you can pretty much strip the jumpers (SCSI ID jumpers)
and set the ID to zero.

You should not need any termination. If you were able to boot off of the
CD, then you should have seen a file that was named "Where are all my
files" - or something along those lines.

If Drive Setup cannot see the drive, then chances are that the drive has
not Apple ROM, so in essence neither the drive nor the Mac know anything
about each other. You can try other formatting utilties and see if they
will recognize the drive. I've used APSs PowerTools (I think that is the
name...) but when I'm really in a jam I bust out the FWB Hard Disk
Toolkit.

Hrm, could be a bad disk. Unfortunately, I don't know of any other disk
tools that can possibly help. One option is to rewrite the
disklable. But screwing that up WILL wreak havoc on you drive. You can
try to format the disk with pdisk (I think) the drive formatter for
NetBSD. But by all means, if you aren't comfortable don't push your luck.

I've heard of Tenon System. Do they still make that X server for
Macs? What exactly are you trying to accomplish?

Good luck,
