Something along those lines.  It allowed you to run *nix apps from a *nix
server on your mac, assuming the machines was allowing X connections
(X-forwarding).

For most of the most common *nix apps that don't require the unix box
(editors, etc) you can probably find decent ports done to the mac.  (ie
emacs).  For other apps that you need to have a *nix server to run them,
then it gets a bit more complicated.  

I run MacX on my 7300 @ work (Apple's Enhanced X Window System
Software).  This allows me to run applications from the *nix servers down
the hall on my Mac - so my lazy *ss doesn't have to get up every time I
need to check on something... ;)

I think Apple still sells the software, I'm not certain though...  I
haven't gotten around to it but I have a copy of A/UX I'm going to try to
toy with.  I'd like to see if I can get a nice server set up on a Q700 or
Q800.
