I did something similar recently, but with an LCII whose hard disk had died.
I booted from a System 6.0.8 install floppy, and formatted the new drive (cannibalized from an old PC) using Lido 7.5.6. Lido was too large to fit on the boot floppy, so I put it on one of its own. I was able to run it by swapping floppies *many* times. You can't run System 6 on your Q605, but I'm wondering if the System 7.5 Network Access Disk would do the trick? I think I have successfully done the floppy disk dance of boredom when booting from 7.5NAD, but I can't recall for sure. You probably already know this, but the 7.5NAD is available here: http://download.info.apple.com/Apple_Support_Area/Apple_Software_Updates/Eng lish-North_American/Macintosh/Utilities/Network_Access_Disk_7.5.sea.bin I think you should terminate the drive. I suspect it seems to work both ways only because of the external CDROM. Good Luck. -K ----- Original Message ----- From: "Willi Legrand" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Quadlist" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Tuesday, April 02, 2002 6:43 PM Subject: Quantum Fireball 1280s Hard Disk problem I have a Q605, 36 MB Ram, and an Ethernet card and I want to replace the HD with a new Quantum Fireball 3.5 Series 1.2 gig Model 1280S SCSI Hard Drive I got from eBay. I can't seem to do it. Does this HD work with a Q605? -- Quadlist is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
