I should probably have clarified - I'd most likely come to such a conference
(even in Sydney!), but I'd be influenced by (1) the cost (depending on the
stinginess of my employer!), (2) the quality of the speakers, and (3) the
range of topics (i.e. if it was just "here's a nifty Rails3 plugin" I might
take a pass :)
