Here's the situation...
"Drew" is a 12 year old from a abusive home of
chemical dependent parents, and has been adopted
by his Grandparents.
He's a member of Troop 328
On the last camp, during the service project,
in front of everyone...
"Drew" fell in the creek that ran through the blackberry
vines we were clearing. The cattle are free to make
that creek a muddy mess, and I have no doubt his shoes
smelled like cow manure.
Even so, he was told to put his wet shoes back on. (1)
Drew replied: "But my shoes are wet!"
His Grandpa said: (2)"Drew.. put your shoes on, now"
Drew replied: "But my shoes are wet"
Granpa:(3) "Drew, listen.. put your shoes on"
Drew: "No,my shoes are wet!!!"
Grandpa:(4) "Drew, there is a reason you must put your shoes on..
Do it now!"
Drew:"But my shoes are wet"
Grandpa: (5)"Drew, put your shoes on and go back to camp"
Drew:"No... my shoes are wet!"
Grandpa:(6) "I'm not asking son, I telling you to PUT ON
THOSE SHOES!"
At this point---
An "Adult Leader" asked Grandpa if he could help drew
understand what he needed to do...
Grandpa: "Sure..anything to bring that kid to reason"
The "Adult leader" led Drew with his shoes behind a bush
and sternly lectured him on listening to authority and
respecting his Grandpa, then... *Spanked his butt!
*Drew, put his shoes on and ran crying back to camp....
Question-
1. In "Line" with what you would do?
2.Out of line with your ethics?
