"Drew" needed the spanking from Grandpa. It is against the law for another
to do it. The commander got permission from the guardian to do what he
wanted to do, a fine line of the law. As an ex school teacher, that can open
a whole can of worms and open the church for a liabel suit. That
conversation should not have gone that far. You never argue with a child.
Somehow it makes him feel he has the upper hand if he can have enough control
over an adult to get him angry or to argue. There are many ways to punish a
child for disobedience. Now, let's look at the child's view. He may have
more problems than you know. There could be residual effects from drugs from
the womb. He also has come into an unfriendly world and has enough on his
plate. But, nevertheless, if you want your child to be a responsible adult,
you love him enough to back up wht you say. Grandpa has his work cut out for
him. You have a tendency to go easy on a kid who has had it rough. But,
rules are for everyone and must be followed because they are there for a
reason. I hope I've helped and not confused. Love conquers all. Janet
