I would add to Duane's comment that you actually were REPRESENTED during the voting.  You may not have known it or felt it, but bear in mind that the way this stuff works is very much like Congress:
  You elect your representatives and they vote for your best interests - hah! ;-)
  They don't speak or listen to each and every person they represent, but in general, they do try to get a general consensus...  (now at this point, I can hear Duane guffawing himself into a fit...)
  In the end, any decisions made usually leave roughly half the people unsatisfied...
