Dear Bob,
First of all I've been noticing
that commanders have turning this topic into "Democracy in the US." We're
talking about democracy in the Royal Ranger program, NOT here in the US.
So lets not try to compare the US with the Royal Ranger program. Democracy
might not work with the US but I don't see why it wouldn't work for Royal
Rangers. Anyways lets get to your letter Cmdr. Triphahn:
I our church we have business meetings in which we
the congragation vote on certain issues. Yes we do have a church board and
they will vote on issues were not allowed to vote on BUT on really big issues
that affect the congragation we do vote. So I'm not saying
that EVERY LITTLE THING would be voted on, but for BIG
ISSUES like the new program or women in the Royal Rangers that would be
something that would be voted on by every chartered outpost in the
nation.
As for complaining, yes there might be a few people
that would complain but not like we've been complaining here in RangerNet.
We would not be criticizing the national office or thinking of "what if Cmdr
Barnes was still alive" because we were the ones who voted and made the decision
not them. The majority rules, the people have spoken, that type of
thing. Once again the votes would be done for BIG ISSUES, issues and
decisions that affect the Royal Rangers throughout this entire
nation.

Jose,
Having a Democratic vote for any issue in Rangers
is not going to keep people from complaining about the changes. Especially if
we look at how people react to real life voting. They still
complain.
It is a wonderful thought. Let me ask you about
the government set up of your local church. Does every member or attendee vote
on all issues regarding church policies? Usually it is the board or deacons
who do the voting and the congregation can either live with it or
leave.
No flames intended. Just some food for
thought.

Then perhaps things need to change. Perhaps the Royal
Ranger program needs
to be more Democratic than what we have now.
This program is not the US
Congress or Senate. STOP WITH ALL THE
POLITICS! This is suppose to be a
Christian ministry after
all. A democratic vote would put to rest all of
these controveries
that have been popping up in RangerNet like the new
program and the issue
of women and girls in the Royal Ranger program. If
all of these
changes are done democratically as Marvelous suggested then no
one
would/should complain because the "majority" has spoken. The
nation
would know that the MAJORIY of rangers agree or disagree on the
subject at
hand instead of what we have now. I think sending
ballots using the
leadership structure (National => Regional =>
District => Sectional => Area
=> Outpost) would be a great
idea.
