Was reading old e-mails and just couldn't let this one go.
How this works in our church is like a dictatorship.
Umm, last time I checked, the pastor's power was held in check by the board and deacons/trustees.  This would therefore make the church an oligarchy or a republic.  The pastor is elected by the body and the same with the board.  The board then checks the pastor's power.

What ever th pastor wants he gets & most people are too chinken (no backbone) to stand up & speak up against anything they disagree on (including the board & deacons) .  They are afraid of getting lectured from the pulpit.
Is this the pastor's fault?  Don't blame him for the lack of courage in the members.

Over the 23 years I have attended my church I have seen a lot leave over the years.  If everyone was still here we would have at least twice+ the amount of people we have now.
I still believe in a Democracy & in the USA it still works.
It wouldn't, if we were a democracy, but we aren't in the literal sense.

You saw Communism fall in Russia.  According to History dictatorships do not work at least I didn't think so
Right, they don't.  The people end up unhappy and revolt.

until we got into this discussion about Springfield.
And that's just low.

Democracy for a wide-spread and diverse group as the Royal Rangers just would not work.  It would be like the UN getting votes from countries when the UN doesn't have a headquarters or regular business meetings.  In a word, chaos.
