Hey Bob

What I do in this situation (and believe me, there's plenty with
Poineers boys) is to talk to the boy. I don't dwell on the negitive
(his behaviour or actions) up find something positive to say to the
boy about who he is and what he can achieve. The effect has been
good in all cases. OK, sometimes they slip back into his old
habits, but a gentle reminder brings them back.

I imagine a 9 year old boy getting into a fight on his way home from
school and a Police Sargent coming out of the house to break it
up. That Sargent then drove the boy home and spoke to his
parents. He asked them if the boy could go to Police Citizens
Boys Club. The boy went there for 5 years. The Sargent always
encouraged the boy to do his best at anything he tried and was
always there to help. He stopped the boy from turning into a
criminal because that's the way he was headed. The Sargent was
moved to Sydney and, tragicaly 3 years later was killed in the line
of duty. His name was Sargent Bill Reilly and the boy was me.
If it had not been for Bill, I doubt, I would be a Christian now.
Who knows the effect we have on the children, maybe, just maybe,
that boy you talk to might turn around and start to mature in a
positive way.

There's a storm coming, our Storm.
