Hi all,

Dale, your situation reminds me of the LTC adage "A teachable moment".
Use the mistake as an opportunity to teach the right from wrong way to
do things. In your toolcraft case; importance of safety, safe area, and
paying attention to what others are doing.

In any form of punishment, the punishie needs to know what they did
wrong and why they are being punished for it. It needs to always be
administered in love. As a commander, if we feel the temperature rising
in us, due to something or someone doing wrong, then, before we open our
mouths we need to cool down. A word said in haste cannot be taken back.

Whether to use push-ups or any other sort of physical fitness
punishments' success rate is based on how it is administered. Done
poorly, and the young man is scarred. Done properly, and a valuable
lesson is learned. Come off as a drill sergeant and you get what you
sow. Reach, Teach and Keep Boys for Jesus Christ.

Just my two cents worth,
