Christian should provide a better moral compass for those in control.
We Christians in America, are a "Intolerant" group! (*Thin Ice!)
Our views are not universally shared by the population of the world
that we live in.. *Tho we preach a gospel of love.. we act out of spite
and apathy for those that are left behind, unable to help themselves.
In Australia, the term "Liberal" has a meaning that as Christians we
expect
to care for the homeless and sick.. and to "cloth the naked and
feed the hungry
and comfort the motherless" We would desire to do that
*before we
expend moneys on weapons of war... and we would do that as an act
of humanity! of *Christian charity!
But American "Christian values" are skewed... *We believe in a prosperity
gospel and feel "Conservative values" are right... and "Liberal thinking"
is perverse! Many have bought into an end time "eschatology"
that has
us in a wound down period of social cynicisum and withdrawl from ideas
that honestly need to be looked at.. We listen to "end of the world"
preachers,
and claim our cities are in ruin and our schools are failures... We
want
"vouchers" to spend what went contribute to public education for the
good of ALL to only be for the good of OUR kids.. and *Frankly-
*It ain't going be enough to fund any decent school... period!
The answer is NOT to withdraw from society or demand your views to dominate..
But rather the answer is when you get off your duff and *Do something
positive to
help the situation!
Volenteer for a civic group... attend the city council meeting!
Get involved!
Health Care is a way to liberate people from pain and suffering..
*we need it cheap-effective and availible! *as a HUMAN RIGHT!
Social Security is not just sending a check to people but makeing
sence of the resources we have been given and promoteing a better
place to live and dream. To do that- we need to elect leaders who
can work for the *people and not the "special intrest"
Last night you saw President Bill Clinton raiseing 27 million dollars
at
one dinner... 27 million people did not give him one dollar<G> rather-
some gave $50 and some $500,000 and basicly that has turned the
presidency and our Congress into a band of beggers with their hands
out
or worst- a gang of thieves!
G.W. Bush is no better!
He just came out out here and picked up 1.7 million dollars off the
table
from the Timber companies... *Do you fellers think out there on the
"High plains" that there is *Unlimited timber resourses out here in
the wild west?
It could only make sence to G.W. if a "James Watt" explained that when
we "cut a big tree" we plant "a new one".... *see no harm done! *Cut
trees-
and they grow back in 100 years! *Whats the big deal? Who needs a forest
anyway?
