I know they don't compare; hence the term "poor imitation."

Perhaps NTC was different when you attended. I didn't learn how to save
children from attending NTC. I was too busy doing the spare time projects
and trying to get some sleep so I wouldn't fall asleep at the council fires.
I learned about saving children, at least the Ranger way, from LTC where we
practiced the plan of salvation until we knew it cold, yet could communicate
it with love.

Dennis, I believe my point was missed. I say NTC, as it is now, is
basically LTC on steroids - the same thing only beefier. I say leave the
patrol stuff in LTC, maybe make the overnighter a weekend event where you
could demonstrate the patrol method, and the training at NTC would be a
notch higher. Teach camping skills, outpost management, more on witnessing
and home visits, etc. Then ANTC would be for more even more advanced stuff.
Just like college, the freshman year you get the basic, core courses and the
coursework gets harder, until in your senior year you are in deep with your
major.

Each step - LTC, NTC, ANTC, ETC - on the training trail should expand on the
basic skills taught at LTC. Follow me?
