Dear RR-bretheren and sisters,
I think that Ken said something very wise.
We RR's here in Germany can not understand that the US-NTC seem to rate
fairly low in the opinion of so many RR-comanders.
And I am sure that I can speak for the German RR-contingent.
I have not read all the relevant mail but what I read tastes like
"strange grass".
Before you can become a commander here in Germany you MUST attend NTC,
if you like it or not.
Otherwise, forget it.
Of course there is the odd incident where novices find something hard to
swallow at first, or that we as trainers on staff do something stupid.
But we all go there to get the basics and get equipped for the
RR-ministry.
And to have a starting point from where to personally and corporately
broaden and to steadily improve the RR-ministry which God has
instituted.
I have been blessed to have been on staff for NTC's, NTT's and one ANTC
for ten years now.
So far I have heard of only two people at the trainig events that I was
part of that had something to complain about.
The first one was a lady having a hard time with wearing a uniform and
the second case was a younger ex-JLTC fellow who mocked his NTC because
it was "kids stuff" to him in comparison to the JLTC he had attended.
This fellow kept on going on about this in his NTC-patrol and ruined it
for them.
He got the following dedication written into his NTC-handbook:
"Confucius says: Young man with big mouth gets fat lips".
This the only non-christian dedication I can remember that "had to be
used" on one of our trainees.
No scripture came to our mind.
All participants are deeply impressed by the immediate fellowship they
experience at NTC. This makes it easy to understand what NTC is all
about.
Many new friendships develop at NTC's and many tears flow when parting
time comes around.
It seems to me that NTC in the US is an option and not a must.
Which to us is very strange since we model our RR-philosophy on yours.
But then maybe we lean on the Johnnie Barnes-type-RR, the original.
The man who had heard from God.
The the way this ongoing debate about NTC is going is not good.
It is discouraging to everybody and puts RR in a very bad light.
My suggestion to those that have a problem with NTC is that you should
behave wisely and discuss any complaints with God first.
Then go and bring forth any suggestion on how to make things better.
( There is ALWAYS room for improvement, even here in the German corner).
And then in a wise and helpful manner post it on RRnet for everybodys
benefit and to honor God with.
Anything beyond that is utterly irritating and makes us itch where we
can't reach.
Phillipians 4, 8:
Finally bretheren,
whatever things are true, whatever things are noble,
whatever things are just, whatever things are pure,
whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report,
if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy -
meditate on these things.
Hoping to have been of help to many.
