I'm afraid it will lead you in the wrong direction,
sir... The race is to be run by the rules.
A fundamental principal of Royal Rangers is an
understanding of fair play and sticking
to "rules" to build boy's into men.
It's wrong to modify the rules to increase the
interest of the older boy, against the young boy.
We do not run Pinewood for the parents or the
leaders or the older boy. We run it fair and
encourage the young boy to do his best, it is
his day, his event, his time to shine.
We think, Pinewood derby is a young non-camping
boys event, for Cub scout age boys only.

Sir, I said that in reference to those that encourage
Missionet girls and their leaders to compete in a
Ranger event. Have you mis-understood?
It just happens to

I disagree based on the instructions listed in
the B/SA LTC materials. It clearly states that these
young boy do not camp, but do attend day camp.
I suppose an overnighter at a church fellowship
hall or home might work but the larger issue is
the makeup of the younger boys leadership. Day
events skirt the potential for upset.
What we are trying to do is to make these young boys
feel every bit proud of their achievements and
look forward, but not "up to the older boys" You
make conduct your Op in any way, but I have an
official charter from my church and must follow the
rules. The rules are no camping for young boys.
OK guys, I

Yes- for me it seems you hold a simular attitude to
the Ranger leader I replaced, who at every turn worked
against the desires of the Pastoral staff to expand
his *vision with blinders to others ministries. In
time it distroyed his good work and he left.
I saw this comming and pledged to not be in rebellion
to the ministry of others and as I bless my brothers,
RR will in turn be blessed by a smaller but more
effective group.

This is what I said- and raceing cars up-hill with
firecrackers or rocket engines should not be done in
the presence of young boys.
If that is the choice of the older boys, let them
launch rockets or shoot blackpowder rifles. At a
different time and event.
