commander. My son is a Pioneer. I sign off his requirements. When he was a
SA and Buckaroo - those commanders signed off on his requirements - we don't
cross groups under normal circumstances - for instance, last week I wasn't
there and one of the Buckaroo commanders (who is in charge when I'm not
there) signed off a Trailblazer requirement. No one questions my integrity
in signing off my son. His outpost Ranger of the Year answered any unspoken
questions. I guess what I'm saying is - if the boy is in dad's group then
dad can sign off - otherwise, probably not. Of course there are some things
that I allow parents to sign off on - like some of the Bachelor Merit
requirements - I'm not checking a boy's bedroom but the parents are. We have
a trust relationship with each other - commanders, boys, and parents - and
testing if there was any doubt.

Subject: [RR] Advancement Question
I need to find how some of you have handed this situation. We have a boy in
Pioneers whose dad is the Straight Arrow Commander. This dad has been a
commander for over 7 years so he knows his stuff. The dad has been working
with him on his advancements and has passed off most of them. As Sr
Commander, I have given my approval for this. However I am beginning to
have
second thoughts about this. What have other outposts done in regard to
commanders passing off advancements for their son? Thoughts?
