Clint you are very right in what your saying. This is my opinion
so please no attacks. As for this prosperity thing. are you guys
refering to being prosperous in general or the "properity theology"
which teaches that if you're not prosperous or if you're sick, it is
because you are in sin?
God's Word says we can be prosperous. Many times it says that prosperity is
the result of obedience. Does that mean that sin can keep you from being
prosperous? Yes, I believe it can. Does it mean you are living in sin if
you aren't prosperous? No. You may have made unwise financial choices or
been born into unfortunate circumstances or any number of things that aren't
a result of sin. Can you rise out of that? Yes. Does prosperity have to
refer to money? No. It could refer to health, family, friends, etc.
Can sickness be the result of sin? Yes. Are you living in sin if you are
sick? No. You may have been bitten by a malaria ridden mosquito while
preaching the Gospel to a tribe of cannibals - not exactly sinning is it?
Does God want us to be sick? NO. Does God make us sick? NO. Does God want
us to be prosperous? YES. Does He put us into poverty? NO.
Michael
