The Bible says that we are judged by our fruits. I once went to one of these
aforementioned churches as a teenager with my mom. They claimed to have led
276 lives to the Lord through thier Friday nite door-to-door witnessing.
But
only one family was added to the church in this time. What they did in
truth
(at least in my imagination) was leave 275 spiritual babies in the
dumpster.
This was thier fruit. They all had pictures of cadillacs on thier
refrigerators that they were claiming in the name of Jesus. They were
claiming health, peace, and properity. And they were claiming 276 souls
saved, 275 of which were in the dumpster. That is how you judge that.
No. YOU (nor I) judge that - judging is God's responsibility - thankfully!
Sounds like some A/G churches I've been in - and some Baptist, and
Presbyterian, and Methodist. So are they all bad? You said you "ONCE went
to ONE". Do you know for a fact that they didn't invite and reinvite those
275 families to church? Do you know for a fact that all 275 were left
behind? Some may have gone to other churches (God forbid that someone not
like OUR church), how many people saved in your church over the last year are
still attending your church? How many did you mentor? As a teenager were
you really aware of what was going on or did you simply respond/react to what
you heard from adults?
And what exactly is wrong with Cadillacs? The picture on my refrigerator is
Red Dodge Ram Truck - my son has a 4-wheeler, my daughter a Barbie bike and
my wife - a natural swimming pool. Am I going to hell because we want these
things? Depends. Depend son whether or not we have received and accepted
Jesus Christ as our personal savior and continue to live for Him until He
returns for us or we leave to see Him. It doesn't matter whether I plan to
use that pickup for Rangers or for driving around in circles in a parking
lot. And it doesn't matter if my wife wants the pool to have Christian
parties at or simply for our family to relax around.
It's interesting how we can judge someone by the picture on the refrigerator
- instead of by what's in their heart (especially since we shouldn't be
judging at all).
