There's more to it than that, amigo..
Look at the learning curve placed before a 14 year old
and what challange do we offer them in RR? I hope we don't
say at 14 "Be like Commander"<G>
A young RR "out-doer" can run circles around me<G>

This second reference to "Hormones" leads me to think that the virtues
of the Ranger code don't apply to these boys.. *Why are you giveing up?
The choice the boy makes when leaveing RR at 14 is for a better life,
and nation wide it's easy to back that choice. The boys are choseing
wisely!
God bless the "Hormones" of boys and that just means greater
virtue is found in self-control and wisdom in makeing choices.
Both are learned by action and experiance gained from a hands-on
"On the job" positions in the Outpost.
In Truth.. RR don't *NEED the boys to survive!
We've built it so that MEN are important and the boys just
"attend";') (*Thin ice<G>) *It's allways been a MEN's "club".
I'd like to propose that you think of your title as "Adult facilitator
of Royal Rangers" and not *Commander. Charming as the title sounds..
It has a ring of "controller" or "big boss" and get's in the way of
thoughts like "coach" and "advisor".
A Royal Ranger is under 18. If you are older.. you are NOT a Royal Ranger
but mearly a cog in the great wheel<G> or as Sonny Green said once..
"Commanders are a dime a dozen!"
(*For those a little miffed at this thought.. check out at
yur next district Leadership event for anyone who can remember
a greater number of boys names compared to leaders names<G>)
We do not need to look at

That's my point.
It's OUR Failure not theirs!
RR needs to be able to "shift gears" and allow young men some *respect.
That all any young man wants.

Success sells better than day dreams<G>
