I'm aware of peer pressure, as well as HOT AIR<Grrrrrrrr>

And it is all too common to dismiss the potential of the boys
to actively embrace something of value. Peer pressure can also
power success in your Outpost and attract the boys with attitude
to rise to the moment.

Many here might be shocked to see Scouts sporting scruffy wiskers
at 14+ and wearing knee socks and neckerchiefs..

It still surprises me!

My Royal Ranger "Leadermind" says funky uniforms do not work..
or Boys don't like to camp.. or perhaps they are different than in the
past.

The truth is that anyone... can smell a dead fish or walk away
from a fiasco. If what is offered to the boys is better than RR
then it makes sence that they will go..

*So what!

If RR was a hot ticket, they could hang out AND be proud of RR!

Just WHO has at their disposal the ability to improve the
quality of the Outpost? Just who is driveing the bus?

*Is it you.. or the boys?

It's easy to choose. and,You see that they do.

I'm saying that a natural selection process is going on that
is the index of your effective leadership. Only by raiseing
the Morale can you wrangle the boys that you NEED! back!

I suggest that your "On-fire" Outpost burn to the ground, and
be resurected as a Boy led Outpost. Burn down the deadwood, rake
up the embers and dance!

Recruit these Uth boys as leaders. *Get radical!

Run the young groups as Leader led "you do it all" and then
run the Older group as the opposite... "They plan, they lead
and you Pay the gas<G>"

(*Or better still.. THEY PAY!)

We have to quit expecting so little from them if we desire
so much more.

*Respect'em..
