I agree that RR isn't Boy Scouts, I've known that since 1962 when I stood in a fresh extra small Kahki uniform from the local work clothes store.
Did you know the founder Johnnie Barnes wanted the Patrol Method to be central to the organizational structure of RR? Have you woundered why Boy positions have been in RR since day one? Yeah, that makes sense. *Have you ever experianced a "Lost Sr.Guide" with no idea of what his job is, while his heart is desireing something other than what he see's? Yep, come to think of it, I have.
You hold up the "Main Thing" as the mission statement, but in fact the "Main thing" is raiseing quality of life for a boy. *That is REACH them. Actually, I would say that reach is what you have to do beforehand.
When you empower the boys to leadership, and equip them for success *That is TEACH THEM A small part of the process, not the whole, but true.
And when you impress upon them the significance of the Motto, CODE and meaning of the emblem, and they become owners of that in their heart... *That is to KEEP THEM FOR CHRIST!
*Clint.. Brother, How many other 1962 Rangers are still around? I know more than I can name, and they would stick by me on this.

I'm not getting this thought amigo..You've got patrol method running out your ears. You can't think of anything else, because you don't speak of anything else. Reach, teach, and keep boys for Christ is the great commission. It doesn't take the patrol method to achieve that. Doesn't even take Royal Rangers. Don't read anything into it, just look at it for what it is.
Please explain. I'd like to know where I've gone off-track.
Isn't NTC about the "Patrol"? Yep, and I have not knocked the Patrol system. I like it. I just think that you are partol system crazy to the point of not being able to focus on anything else. You're posts certainly seem to be indicative of this. I know that you feel that you are a voice crying in the wilderness. Some kind of weeping prophet. But what you are proclaiming is not the gospel. It is the church of the Patrol System. Isn't that "National Training"?For better or worse, this is getting away from patrol system. The new OSC (Outdoor Skills Campout) which will take the place of the LTC campout, quit the patrol method. National Academy uses teams, and so does the new ANTC.
Some body (I won't mention > any names, just look at who this thing is addressed to) has done just > that, in my estimation, and left the main thing way behind in the dust.
*Wilderness members travel the less worn paths. I guess there's no home for the Trailblazer on return to the settlements. Pilgrims have roosted! This is too high for my IQ! Thanks.
