I originally built a homebrew dual H-bridge controller for Hetzer T010 that used a PIC and D1D40 solid state relays. It lasted over 10 years. One of my 10 year old 24V Makita drill motors failed last winter and I installed two new Makita motors that were supposed to be exact replacements. The new motors were actually stronger and faster. They fried one leg of one H-bridge. I installed a Sabretooth 2x60 last summer and it has been iron-clad in one of the most abused tanks in our hobby.
