althougt i remmeber pretty clearly that in the late 90s,

sorry i meant *Apple* hardware only. of course japan is bigger in
comps for ex, it's twice the population (and twice the economy lol.)
I forget what they were called, but I wonder if that includes all

weird terminals that were in French households?
yes lol "Minitel". was pretty cool when it's started in the early
80s.it was free and easy to use. they even made some colors models
with video, but that never came out nationwilde.
then after the french monopoly for telecomunication "France telecom"
was kind of ridiculious when they promoted this old stuff over the
internet in the late 90s. that's why internet got a slow start at
first in france. but now it seems like, according to a last week
study, that we have among the coolest offers in ADSL in europe; 29,9
€ for 20 megas down/1megas Up. French are a bit masocist like saying
"we suck in the internet", then they speed up with many competitors
to get even. In paris there is some area that already work since june
05, like in japan, with FTH fiber to home. like symetric 100 Mb.
but technology isn't everything, we remain way far behind
scandinavian countries when it comes for the use of the net, and
