We currently have a completely custom control because even in 10.4 there are no built in controls that provide everything we support.

If they are using MLTE then it should be easier to enabled a lot more capabilities (like spell checking) since that's a feature of MLTE as I'm sure you already know.

This would include being able to read and write RTF files (see TXNReadFromCFURL) in which it states "Document attributes are supported only for the rich text file formats supported by MLTE, which are RTF and MLTE native file format."

Being able to read RTF is independent from the backend chosen.
