Yes, but they'd have to put him on waivers before he could be outrighted to the minors. Granted, there's not much chance he'd be claimed, but if they're going to do that they might as well just waive him outright and give him a fresh start somewhere. I suspect being DFA'd would be kind of humiliating and he probably wouldn't respond well to it. I guess the question is, do you want to try to get him back to being himself, or have you decided it's over and want to move on? If the former, then you stick with him. If the latter, make a deal for a hitter and waive him. -- Matt
