Okay, I have some more questions. First, I broke that white spot off of the
Stylophora, as we had discussed. Now, the spot where I broke it off has
white stuff on it, and the areas that were damaged when I bought it have it
as well. This has me worried, mostly about my other SPS. I am tempted to
take a frag of the stylo and then get rid of the colony. Is there any thing
else I should try, or should I just leave it alone and let it do its thing?
It is still opening very well, except the spots that have this white stuff
on them, which were already dead and receding to begin with (except the spot
that was from me breaking it off).

And, does any one out there run a phosphate remover in their system 24-7??
The back of the Phosguard bottle mentioned that small amounts of the product
can be used at all times in the system. I guess the goal is to absorb the
phosphates before they become a problems. Sort of "proactive" in the
approach.

Right now, I have the phosguard in my sump, right beside my pump intake,
with a small rio powerhead directed at the stuff. My goal is to increase
circulation in/through/around the product. Is this going to be effective
enough for the product to work well?

TIA

Shane C.

Thiel's X-phosphate is a very good product as is Seachem and Kent.
Do NOT run
any of these longer than directions state. Also. if phosphates are
being
absorbed you can expect a slight reduction in dKH as well. It should
not be
dramatic, should not affect pH, and should be easy to correct. I
think all
these 'sponges' of cracked ceramic are all the smae thing. You can
regenerate
it for future use but it will not have the original 'punch'. Good
luck!
