Hi, Shane. My digital needs batteries so I can't send you a picture. I use
these shelves over prop. tanks so I don't have to fart around with a hood. It
sounds like you can modify the existing hood to accept MH and not worry about
the shelf idea. You can put a 1X4" strip on the bottom lip of the existing
hood and stain/paint it to match the rest of the hood. This will elevate it
another 4" above the water and still hide the water line. You could elevate
it more depending on how high you want it. You could even cut some
ventilation holes in it if needed. HTH
