Kalau di Jakarta, Supir Taxi seperti ini adanya.
Lebih baik dari PhD kah? btw, sekarang ini billing rate (bersih) untuk
standar S3 berapa sih?

Apa ada pengguna jasa S3 yang bersedia berbagi?

Salam,

Ownership scheme boosts drivers' income

The Jakarta Post, Jakarta

"I've been waiting for five years and a half for this moment.
Thank God, this will help me fund my kids' education," says
43-year old Mohammad Badrun, looking at his white 2003 Toyota
Soluna, stroking its windshield.

The shiny sedan formerly belonged to Express Group taxi
operator. But starting Thursday last week, Badrun, the driver,
could claim it his own thanks to switch of its ownership from
the company to him.

"I will sell this car soon. I need the money to send my daughter
to high school," the father of two told The Jakarta Post
recently.

With a fluctuating daily income, Badrun realized his children
had little chance of higher education if he relied on his daily
earnings as taxi driver.

With only a Rp. 4,5 million of down payment, Badrun can own a Rp
50 million car after five years.

"I pay Rp. 140,000 to the company everyday. That includes the
daily instalment for the car."

This partnership program is called the Taxicab Ownership Scheme
and conducted by Express Group.

Since the program kicked off in 1997, Badrun has owned two cars.

His first was a Ford Laser which he sold in 2003.

"This program has helped me and my family a lot since the first
time I worked for Express in 1994," he said.

Another driver, Jumadi, has owned three cars thanks to the
scheme.

"I choose to pay bigger daily instalments so that I can own the
car after four years," said the 45-year old, who has worked for
Express for 20 years.

Badrun and Jumadi were among 90 Express' taxi drivers who
claimed the ownerships of their cars this year.

Express, which claims to be the second-largest taxi operator in
Indonesia, will have handed over a total of 500 Toyota Soluna
cars to their drivers by the end of this year.

For those who already have their Soluna cars, the company will
hand over a brand new Toyota Limo as their new cars.

Express Group President Director Daniel Podiman said the
partnership program was aimed at helping to fight poverty by
forging a mutually beneficial partnership with Express' 6,000
drivers.

"In addition, this scheme will increase the drivers' senses of
belonging because they know the fleets they are driving will be
their own in the future," Daniel said.

With a sense of belonging, he said, the driver would also be
better in taking care of their cars and driving more safely on
the Jakarta's busy streets.

This program has been recognized by the United Nations
Development Programme (UNDP) as one of its case study strategies
for eradicating poverty through business partnerships.

The UNDP has selected Indonesia's Express Group one of 50
companies worldwide as the models for its program called
"Creating Value For All: Strategies for Doing Business with the
Poor". (bbs)
