Cables that have molded push-on ends are of inferior shielding and must be replaced with jumpers that have 100% foil shielding and compression fittings. Another problem the tv viewer often times sees is interference that comes and goes on channel 19 or 20. This happens when the high-powered paging transmitters on 152 mcs. and thereabouts turn off and on. Screw on "F" fittings are another problem. Most folks don't know how to install them properly which results in little or no shield connection. Even inferior cabling between the back of the set and the tuner can be a problem (cable in the interior of the tv)... Yes, cable companies are to run a closed system, and many don't follow (or even have) a good leakage program. Some cable techs don't have the knowledge that I have written here, so as a good ham you might want to help find your neighbors problem and offer to fix it. Your neighbor will enjoy his channel 18, etc., and you can enjoy your 2 meters and everybody will happy.
