The way I handle it is to use the original release date in the YEAR tag of each track. With Greatest Hits albums, each track often has a different date. Sometimes researching a boxed set for the original year of each track takes quite a while, especially if the information isn't in the liner notes or booklet. But once I have them properly tagged, browsing or playing by YEAR gives me music that was originally released in that year.
For remasters I put it in the ALBUM tag: Can't Buy A Thrill [98 remaster] Fragile [03 remaster+] (for remasters with bonus tracks, I use the "+" designation). I tend to give bonus tracks the YEAR of the original release, because they are usually alternate versions from that same session or tracks that didn't make the final cut of the original release. -- Pale Blue Ego ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Pale Blue Ego's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=110 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=31924 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
