Slightly beyond the topic, what do people do with classical reissues?
There are several dates:
- date of composition
- date of performance
- date of first issue
- date of reissue or remaster

I have generally stuck to the date of performance, where available, as
this can also give useful information about the likely quality
(especially mono vs stereo!). What do others do?

Is there an online resource of date of composition by composer, or does
one have to google each?
