Yes indeed - why do they sell those things?

You can do several things in a computer drive that you can't do in a CD
player.  For example, you can back it up and check the bits again, or
you can check the bits against other users who ripped the same CD all
over the world.  This is the principle of EAC (and now dBpowerAMP) plus
AccurateRip - it rips and compares with itself and with others.  If even
one other person got the same bits as you did you can bet it's 100%
perfect - the odds of both of you getting the same random error are
astronomical (think how many bits there are in even one track off a
CD).
