As Clive says, you'll need more than 500Gb. As a rough guide, you will get approx 3 discs per GB, so for 2000 you will need approx 666GB. Also, can you imagine getting to the end of this mammoth task and then having to do it all again? No, I didn't think so. So, don't forget to plan for backup - one option would be to buy twice as much storage as you need and simply copy your rips onto a second drive regularly. Another thought - it's worth making sure you're using a CD drive that performs well. For example, I have a drive in a desktop PC that is twice as fast as the drive in my laptop. Have fun!
