Re. using EAC: I find that when all goes well, I can rip a CD in about 4
minutes (in Secure mode). If I'm lucky, the disc will be in the
AccurateRip library and each track will have a reasonable confidence
level, and that's that. If it's not in the library, or if my rip
doesn't agree, then I'll run a Test on the uncertain tracks. If the
checksums disagree then I'll either test or copy those tracks again
until they agree. My experience is that more often than not, the CD
won't be in the AccurateRip DB, so I have to Test all tracks; it seems
quite rare for the CRCs to disagree; and very rare to hit real problems
(perhaps a couple of times in the past few months, and one of those was
the CD that I was carrying when I fell downstairs and broke my arm!)

To be honest, if I'm ripping a CD whilst doing something elsewhere in
the house, I know by the time I remember to check I might as well do a
Copy-and-Test rip.

CDs that I've ripped get put into slim polythene sleeves (unless this
means trashing the artwork, e.g. Digipak sleeves). So far, I've ripped
about 1/3 of my collection. Space is no longer an issue, and I'm in no
great hurry to rip the remainder. I've already ripped lots of stuff
that I've yet to play. Most ripping I do nowadays is new acquisitions,
the gradual replacement of old lossy rips by lossless ones, and the
occasional mad whim to suddenly add something just because I've not
heard it in ages. Which brings me to...

Re. the CDs you know you won't want to hear again: be sure that's the
case. A few years ago I had a clearout where I got rid of about 10% of
my collection, just to save space. At the time, I was pretty sure I'd
never miss them; but every now and again I have a hankering to listen
to one of them again! (Though so far, not enough to buy another copy!)
