IMO, your reply just reinforces my belief.  No one else in my family
would have the patience to even think about what you wrote, and few
would have the technical capability to execute it...it's probably more
accurate to say patience to figure out how to.   My experience is that
the "experts" on this forum don't represent the vast majority of the
folks I consult with that would like to have this capability.  As a
result, I've come to realize that these types should pick the format
that best suits them now - and that might not be FLAC.

I offered the additional information simply because no one else did. 
Whether you agree or not is personal to you, but obviously may not
represent the decision criteria most important to the original poster. 
Since we don't know what they are, I figured I'd add more thoughts to
balance the argument a little.  If he wants to listen to his music with
the windows media player on his 2 windows computers, his portable
windows compatible player and the squeezebox, then WMA may be less
hassle and therefore better suited for him.
