Hi Brawny,

Sounds like you had a good night!

I am two thirds way through vinyl ripping - i have around 400 lps. My
setup may not help you directly but it may give you some pointers.

+ I use a Project Phono II USB pre-amp from my turntable - this is a
"standard" high quality amp that replicates the sound through the USB
cable.

+ I plug the USB into a laptop and use Audacity to record the music.
This is free software. I use the beta version of Audacity as it
supports direct export to FLAC, with appropriate tags. The Laptop is
connected to my music library.

+ The only hassle is manually 'labelling' each track within Audacity -
no way round it. Audacity does have some audio cleanup tools, though,
so this is worth checking out.

+ By the way I tried dbPowerAmp AUX input too, instead of Audacity. On
the whole it worked, and automatically added appropriate tags to the
FLAC files. The main issue is trying to configure it to auto detect
start and end of tracks - it will not cope with continuous music very
well - plus you have to monitor and check each track, and it has no
cleanup tools

Hope this helps.
