>Similarly, I would expect that checking "list by all artists" would >only add names to the list. I specifically don't want guest artists >listed. > List by Band/All Artists doesn't define what artists appear in the Browse Artists list. It's a rather confusing setting. Instead it defines what artist name(s) to display when browsing Albums (eg. "<album> by <artist>" could be "No Pussyfootin' by Robert Fripp, Brian Eno" or "No Pussyfootin' by Fripp & Eno" (if you were to use the Band tag to store band information, and Artist tags to list the artists in the band).
>Looks like it was the Compilation=0 tag (????) I suspected it would be that. I think it's a bug. Doesn't affect many people, because normally Compilation tags are not needed. If an album is a compilation (different performing artists on tracks), SC will detect that it is a compilation by default. If all songs have the same artist(s), SC will detect that it is not a compilation. If there is a guest performer on one song, an album artist (or frig the use of the band tag) would prevent the album from being considered a compilation. Setting Compilation=0 on an album that has guest performers without an album artist tag would be incorrect (as there's a decision to make as to whom the album would be listed under). Setting Compilation=0 on an album that has guest performers with an album artist tag should be unnecessary (as it's already considered not to be a compilation when there's an album artist). However, it appears that the compilation tag is processed before album artist, and thus causes side-effects as it skips over the album artist processing. >I will now set a Compilation=1 on all my VA albums and remove the tag from >other albums. > I don't think you need Compilation=1.
