I've ripped many lps using my internal Yamaha XG soundcard over the years and it has worked well. I wanted to find a solution that worked just as well using a USB device that I could use with my laptop.
I got this for Christmas and I find it to work REALLY well: http://www.artproaudio.com/products.asp?type=90&cat=13&id=128 I like that it has RCA jacks for input/output and that it has positive gain on the input for those tapes/lps with lower level signals. It is well constructed and has knobs rather than software controls. It is very quiet too - no hum. It can accomodate both line in and phono inputs, so you can use it with another phono pramp. It has an external power supply so you can use it just as a phono pre amp. -- maggior Rich --------- Setup: 2 SB3s, 1 duet, 1 receiver.
