Keep in mind however, that what we are talking about is the case that often occurs where that 0:00 offset error stops a CD from ripping, and that this is an occurrence that rarely happens (as others in this thread have also suggested). In my own 2000+ CD library, I think it may have happened 5 times. When it did happen, I actually ripped the same track 3 times when I was discussing what I had done. While it is also perfectly plausible for an error to occur the same way 3 times, I typically listened to the track in question afterwards as well, and I never actually had a problem unless the error was literally in the first frame, in which case I never noticed. I should also add that at the time (10+ years ago) AccurateRip wasn't a feature. So while you may think it is "silly" it was a reasonable method of ripping an otherwise problematic track and could still be that way. Heck, with the music I buy these days, I rarely find one that is in the AccurateRip database anyway.
