As one who doesn't use compilation tags specifically, I tend to set AA = Various Artists for most (not all) of my compilations on the criteria of an album consisting of multiple artists. As you suggest I then utilize Genre Tags to separate Soundtracks, Tributes, etc so that a soundtrack like your example of More does get put under Pink Floyd. As for Singles, Greatest Hits, etc, I actually leave an Album tag but use a [single] after the single name to quickly identify. Yes, it does make a bit of a list although I generally don't own many singles, so it only affects a few artists. For Greatest Hits, I usually add a Greatest Hits genre just to help keep things separate as well as a Live genre. It's not true to the meaning of Genre, but it works (moving to FLAC, I'm generating a custom field to separate recording types, but that's in prgoress). Really, no one should argue that their method is better than anyone's. The whole concept of 3 types of users is real, and each type has its merits. -- emalvick ------------------------------------------------------------------------ emalvick's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=35382 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=88072 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/ripping
