Indeed, an oversight on my part. I confess to being the author of ED
W 89. (All papers that start with "ED" in TEI-land are supposedly
written by one or both editors. But I should have put my name in
there, and have just done so.) Note, by the way, that ED W 89 is,
like Murata-san's, only a proposal. It has not even been approved,
let alone acted upon.

I agree these activities should be coordinated, although should say
up front that TEI is not at all dogmatic about it -- we want
something we can use, and we don't care very strongly about the
details. However, I also have to confess that I am behind and have
not read most of this thread yet.[1] I will try to do so later today.

[1] In fact, it is entirely accidental that I read this post -- I am
having some trouble with my Yahoo! account (I will need to create
a new Yahoo username and perhaps delete the old one.), and was
looking for the URL for the mailing list (which Yahoo! calls a
"group", I think), and just opened the most recent mail from
Yahoo! to look for it.
