This might be a good time for me to join the conversation as a
representative of the community of Humble Users. (My interest in Relax
NG comes via involvement with TEI, but I am not a software developer.)

During 20 years as a computer user I have learned how to do lots of
arcane and complicated things (redefining nroff/troff macro packages,
for example), so maybe it will carry some weight if I say that I have
rarely found anything more confusing than getting SGML/XML catalogs to
work properly on the various computer systems I use. My principal XML
editor uses a processing instruction to associate a Relax NG schema with
a document, a simple and convenient solution from my point of view.
I'd be even happier if I could expect the same PI to be understandable
by other command-line parsers and editors I use, so I wouldn't have to
enter schema parameters every time I use them. Or if I could place a
Relax NG schema at a Web location and then be able to share an XML
document that references it without requiring the recipient to edit the
file in order for it to validate.
