I assume he's referring to capabilities.  jackstart is a little
suid root wrapper that will run jackd with real-time capability
if you happen to have capabilities enabled in the kernel.  That
way you can get away without running everything as root, which
should be nice.

I've never really investigated it because I don't have
capabilities enabled in my kernel.  I doubt if many other users
have either.  So I don't think it's really of immediate interest
in this discussion.  Or is it?
