Yeah, but imagine if we hadn't had CVS at all (which was, for most of that
time, the likely alternative).

"Already fixed"? You sound like a computer programmer. Just buy the latest
blimdefloop and install the blatherwitz and you're probably good to go, if it
works and you know how to work it and I haven't forgotten to explain anything
important.

I listed five serious advantages, one of which really counted as three. DVD
has no _usability_ advantages at all, except for the smaller size of the box
and the ability to seek to certain predefined positions quickly.

It all really depends on whether you think the better picture and sound
quality and shinier media are worthwhile tradeoffs for the worse usability.
I admit I might if I didn't have kids and most of my use was while relaxing
on the sofa with a nice glass of wine, but DVD players are just too clumsy to
operate and DVDs too easily destroyed with small kids around. We obviously
have both, but the video gets more use, and that's because by and large it's
better for the things we need. Doesn't mean it's technically better overall,
or better for everyone, and it _certainly_ doesn't mean the format was better
when it was first invented -- it just means it's quite a bit better now than
DVD is now, for a number of basic sorts of use. I don't entirely see how you
can dispute that -- can you name any advantage of DVD that I've missed?

Oh, I forgot another one -- you can just put a video in, and it plays.

I use KDE these days, have done for a few years now.
