DVD wins for being able to skip to scene 23, but if you're looking for the
part of scene 23 where Bob says to Mary "Oh drat! That's not a Cadillac!"
then a DVD sucks mightily for this purpose. Fast forwarding is jerky and
unwieldy.

I assume he means the little catch that prevents the casual handler from
getting the tape out in the first place. I raised two babies. I have a
mysterious hole in the front of the VCR from who knows what hitting it. I
have lots of movie boxes that are chewed and/or shredded. I don't recall
ever having lost a tape though.

Or a DVD, for that matter, it must be said.

Though as far as all of this goes, I'm with you, Guillaume, in that I rarely
ever watch any of this nonsense either. Neither do my kids, these days. Now
that I'm being Mr. Mom, I'm keeping the damn idiot light pretty much turned
off.

So far so good, but I just got a complaint from my daycare provider about how
my kids don't watch TV anymore, and they're much harder to keep entertained.
