In the US we have the phrase: There is more than one way to skin a cat. Which
refers to doing things many ways. I've been known to use this phrase when I
can't get things done it the most straight forward way, and must seek an
alternative.
I like your Finnish phrase. I'll have to keep that in mind.

I certainly appreciate your efforts in this regard.
Concerning the matter at hand, svn / git / naming. I am not invested, nor
would I be involved in the fallout from making a move. I also have no real
good experience to draw from.
So, I leave this discussion to you folks.
Michael admits that he is being stubborn, since he feels he will have to do all
the cleanup work to make this happen for you.
It looks like you've done some research into these matters, so maybe if you
were willing to do the dirty work that Michael doesn't want to take on and
ensure that everybody can "switch" or do somethings similar with their local
copies, then maybe this wouldn't be such an issue.
No, Michael not taking sides, just pointing out the obvious. If Heikki, takes
on the jobs to make this painless on everyones part, then there is really no
argument? Is that correct?
But either way, It sounds like all branches from trunk will need to merge
before this can happen.
What about pitch-tracker and other branches like that. How will this affect
their work? And how will this affect people who pulled from
branches/Stable_1_7?
These are good things to consider before moving forward.
Sincerely,
Julie S.
