Following up on that, I deleted ~/.local/share/rosegarden/examples to get the
new files in place the next time I ran Rosegarden. I loaded the new version
of "Bogus Surf Jam" without the channel remapping warning, and got the same
results I experienced earlier.

Out of the box, most of the tracks in this file are mute, and I don't see why.
Unhelpfully, I can't read the display on my venerable Sound Canvas, because
the display is covered with a huge layer of dust that's apparently on the
*inside* of the unit.

Anyway, it obviously has nothing to do with channel mapping, so I'm going to
shrug this off at this point instead of finding some teeny screwdrivers and a
can of compressed air. Whatever is going on here is more likely to have
something to do with controller settings or invalid program changes than to be
some kind of insidious, systemic problem arising from remapping some MIDI
channels from hither to thither.

For that matter, this thing has been running 24/7 for who knows how many years
in a row now. Maybe I just need to power it all the way off.
