a couple, I'm sure BTS would sell hundreds of them in very short order.
  Right? Cheers...Ed L.

Like I explained to a gent at the NASG convention wanting a PRR steam
loco, all it takes to push any project to the top of the list is 100
modelers sending in big checks.

While my builder's time is limited just like everyone's, the real
deciding factor of what gets done and when is based upon my
determination of what will recoop the investment quickly and provide
B.T.S. with the profit that is needed to keep the business going.

And since we have not in the past used that tired line - 'if we get
enough deposits, we will build it' - B.T.S. provided all the development
money and decisions had to be made based on potential sales, not just
love of a scale. While that has limited the new projects, it also has
not abused the modelers by having their money tied up. Right decision?
Who knows.

On the coil car, frankly based upon past sales in S scale, I doubt that
hundreds would be sold in short order. Perhaps I am wrong - been there
in the past - but I suspect 30-40 would sell within the first six
months. And that would not recoop the development costs. We will do the
car, just cannot afford to rush it.

So, bottom line.... how do the S modelers want us to proceed? Do we
continue as we have by offering models that did not require a deposit or
threats of cancellation? Or do we start asking for deposits/prepayments
and do the models in order of sales?

You folks let us know what you want. "mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]"

Oh, yea.... I have the sample of the PRR F39 75' pig flat running on the
layout. Couple of changes needed before production starts, but it does
look good. Perhaps I will post a photo or two later.

Take care
Bill
