FWIW, it has been said before and will proabably be said again: a POSSIBLE
reason for lack of growth in S, is that we have a VERY LIMITED rtr track
system. Yes Don T dues provide one and so does Ron B of American Models. It
MAYBE true that SOME mailline track looks like what American Models does, but I
do not think so from the pictures I have seen, unless of course, the
photographers ONLY shoot on the best section of track of the system.
Right now Don T is providing freight cars and engines and there does not seem
to be a call for larger turnouts then his #3(?). If his turnouts were available
without the roadbed, I would be VERY happy to use his system and support his
efforts the best I could with my money. The Hudson may have a hard time getting
thru, but right now it needs more work to run on ANY track system. I am sure
does Don does his best to offer the best at the least, but even his starter
set are a bit expensive MAYBE for a first time buyer. The quality is there for
sure and the engines will probably last a life time or more.
Add to the fact, the lack of being available at MOST hobbies shops that are
left and we have the Catch-22. No sight no sales, no sales no growth. I have
not found ONE hobby shop in the Upper 3/4 counties of New Jersey that carries
ANY S. Prove me wrong and I will be there on a Saturaday morning, which is the
only time I am NOT working, except for Sunday church service.

And, more Z guys than N guys. Hi Ed, The point is that if HO is the most
popular scale then itmust be the right size for most folk's needs. Apparently a
lessernumber have room for O scale. It would be logical for there to bemore
guys with room for S scale than for O scale wouldn't there? but Sscale runs a
distant third in this three scale race? N scale and Zscale don't matter to us
because given the popularity of HO scale itappears that most modelers don't
need smaller scales that HO?......dave
